Frequently Asked Questions
How do I split a bill fairly?
Enter the bill amount, the tax percentage and the tip percentage, then the number of people. Each person pays their equal share of the total including tax and tip.
Should the tip be calculated before or after tax?
Tipping on the pre-tax subtotal is the common convention in India. The calculator applies the tip to the subtotal before adding tax.
How do I handle someone who ate less?
Split the bill into two groups with different amounts, or use the tip calculator with the bill splitter's per-person figure as a guide.
How do I split a bill unevenly?
Work out each person's share of the subtotal, apply tax and tip proportionally, and add them up. For very uneven splits, divide the bill into separate totals per group.
