This calculator returns the exact number of days, weeks, months and business days between any two dates, with an option to include the end day for inclusive counts. The business-day figure — Monday to Friday only — is what banks and employers actually use for processing times, so it removes the guesswork from statements like 'will be processed within 10 working days'.
How to Use This Calculator

Worked Example
A project runs from 26 January 2026 to 15 August 2026. The tool reports 201 total days — 145 business days since weekends are excluded — which breaks down as 28 weeks and 5 days, 0 years, 6 months and 20 days, or 4,824 hours. The business-day figure is the useful one for delivery timelines and leave planning, because it shows the working days your team actually has. Tick include-end to count the last day too, which matters when a contract or ticket covers 15 August itself. The same calculation works for notice periods and annual-report deadlines.
Tips and Common Mistakes
- •Tip 1: Use include-end when the arrangement covers the final day — a one-day event from start date to same-day end date shows as 1 day only with the option on.
- •Tip 2: For salary or leave planning, read the business-day number, since most organisations count working days excluding weekends.
- •Tip 3: The years/months/days line uses calendar months — 30 days apart can still read as a month less than the total-days figure suggests.
- ✗Mistake 1: Quoting the total-days figure when a working-day figure is expected — the two can differ by nearly a third on long ranges.
- ✗Mistake 2: Forgetting include-end when the last day is contractually covered, which undercounts the span by exactly one day.
Expert Note
Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays by default. Indian public holidays are not excluded — for leave planning, manually subtract gazetted holidays from the business-day count. The years/months/days breakdown uses calendar months, so 30 January to 28 February is 1 month even though it is only 29 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the result include the end date?
By default the end date is not counted, like most calendar-day calculations. Turn on 'Include end day' to count it — for example to include today in a countdown.
What are business days?
Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Public holidays are not subtracted, since they vary by state and city.
Why does the tool show months as an average?
Months have different lengths, so a precise month count depends on the dates. The average shown uses 30.4375 days per month, the standard annual-average conversion.
Is the day count inclusive or exclusive?
Exclusive by default (the number of full days between the two dates). Toggle 'Include end day' to switch to inclusive counting.
