When to Use This Calculator

Countdowns structure Indian planning: days until board exams, visa expiry, insurance renewal, a festival or a wedding. This calculator counts the exact days, weeks and months between any two dates, and adds a business-day figure for working-day deadlines like income-tax returns and office submissions. Students paste exam dates from their timetable and watch the remaining days shrink, which many use to set revision milestones. Families planning functions confirm how many days are left to book venues and caterers, and freelancers track project deadlines in both calendar and working days. The week-and-remainder view helps travellers estimate how many weekends fall before a trip, and the include-end option matches how people actually count days until an event.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Step 1: Enter today's date, or any starting date, in the first field — it defaults to today.
  2. Step 2: Enter the target date in the second field, ensuring it is later than the starting date.
  3. Step 3: Choose whether to include the target day in the count using the include-end option.
  4. Step 4: Read the total days, weeks, business days, hours, minutes and the weekday the target date falls on.

Worked Example

From 14 August 2026 to 15 August 2027 is 366 days — 52 weeks and 2 days, exactly 1 year — and 15 August 2027 falls on a Sunday. The same count works for exam countdowns, visa-expiry warnings, insurance renewals and project milestones. Tick include-end when the target day itself counts, which turns a 60-day window from 1 January to 1 March 2024 into 61 days. The business-day number is the one to quote when the deadline must land on a working day, and the hours figure (8,784 for the 366-day span) helps with hourly planning.

Tips and Common Mistakes

  • •Tip 1: For festival dates that change every year, confirm the date from the official holiday list first, then run the countdown.
  • •Tip 2: Use the business-day number when the deadline is a working day, like a tax-filing due date or an office submission.
  • •Tip 3: Check the target weekday before booking — a deadline on a Saturday or Sunday often shifts the effective due date.
  • ✗Mistake 1: Entering the target date before the starting date, which makes the direction of the count ambiguous or the result invalid.
  • ✗Mistake 2: Treating the result as exclusive of the target day when you expect it inclusive — check the include-end option before quoting the figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days until a specific date?

Enter the target date and the calculator counts the full days from today (or your chosen start date) to it, excluding the end day by default.

What are business days?

Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding weekends. Public holidays are not subtracted because they vary by state and city.

Does 'include end day' change the result?

Yes. It adds one day to the count, which is useful for countdowns that include the final day itself.

Why do different sites show different day counts?

Some include the end date and some do not, and some count only full 24-hour intervals. This calculator is exclusive by default, with the include-end-day toggle to switch.
